On September 11, 2001, 38 commercial airplanes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were unexpectedly diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland. As the world watched tragedy unfold, the people of Gander welcomed thousands of stranded strangers with extraordinary generosity, proving that even in the darkest moments, kindness can unite us all.

Filled with humor, heart, and an unforgettable folk-inspired score, Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of compassion, resilience, and human connection that inspired millions around the world. Presented during this year’s 25th anniversary of September 11, this moving production honors those affected by the attacks while celebrating the enduring values of service, hope, and community.

More Than a Musical:

This production commemorates the 25th anniversary of September 11 through live theatre and community reflection. In addition to the performance, audiences will experience a historical lobby exhibit featuring the real people behind the story and are invited to pause for a moment of remembrance on Opening Night. Through music, storytelling, and history, Come From Away reminds us that even in times of tragedy, kindness has the power to bring people together.

To honor the 25th anniversary of September 11, select commemorative elements will accompany this production.

• September 11 Opening Night will begin with a brief Moment of Silence honoring those affected by the events of 9/11.
• A historical photo display in the lobby will introduce audiences to the real people whose stories inspired Come From Away.
• Guests interested in learning more are encouraged to read The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede, the nonfiction book that inspired the musical.
• Select performances may include a post-show talkback with members of the cast and creative team. (Schedule to be announced.)
